Orcha & Khajuraho

Orchha or Urchha, is a beautiful medieval town, which is located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This town was founded by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh, Bundela Chief, in 1501. He also constructed a few temples and forts also during his reign. This town is placed on the banks of River Betwa. A well-known tourist destination in Madhya Pradesh state, it is also one of the most popular weekend getaways from Delhi.

It is believed that the founders of the Khajuraho were the descendants of God Moon, who were also the founders of the mighty Chandela Dynasty. Built by Chandela rulers, originally they were 80 in number but now only 22 remain. This festival held every year between 25th February and 2nd March, is a show of several Indian classical dance forms. This festival is attended by various famous artists and spectators, who are passionate about classical dance forms.
